Hey everyone,
Last Wednesday, I had an online meeting with my buddy on the Road to GDE #RoadtoGDE program, Verena Zaiser.
Verena is a drummer and an inspiring Flutter developer. She regularly records podcasts and has a great impact on the community.
And just like me, Verena is a freelancer with a background in a multitude of programming languages and frameworks.
In our discussion regarding the experience, we had, years ago, after gathering knowledge with AngularJS and enjoying working with it than we were forced to switch to another framework, which led her to Flutter and led me to Angular, I told her whether we like it or not, we have to keep an eye on the IT market and continue learning new paradigms.
Especially as freelancers, we can never say that we are safe if we become experts in some fields. What happened with AngularJS could happen again with another framework.
“That’s true, but it’s ok. Learning new things is never boring,“ Verena said.
"Absolutely, it's never boring! We have just to compromise, since the time we spend on continuous learning, in addition to being full-time busy with our job, is at the cost of having some free time and a more sustainable lifestyle," I replied with a smile on my face.
Verena nodded.
For some reason, at that moment, I remembered a few sentences from a character in a series I watched lately. As a commoner asked him "Why you wanted to spend the day with me?" he said:
“I wanted to be a normal person, at least for one day. Laugh and cry with no worry. In my position, I never get the chance to be true to myself. People outside the palace envy me for being the crown prince. I envy the life of people outside the palace.“
That said, with the progress, I’ve done in my plans and goals in the last couple of months, and the similarity I felt with Elon Musk after the crazy amount of hours I’ve worked per week, I can’t say that I envy people who are much less busy than me. I’m just seeking a more optimized and balanced schedule.

In the last few days, I’ve seen this picture in a LinkedIn post, which highlighted the complexity of Kubernetes and today’s systems. Although I found it funny, it remembered me of a tough experience that I shared on May in this piece:
