My Journey to Becoming a Google Developer Expert (GDE) 🎉
On perseverance, growth, and making a difference
Hey friends,
After a first try in 2021 and an application process that took about three months, I’m thrilled to share with you that I passed the last interview for the GDE program application this time and joined the GDE community!
Yes, I’m now officially a Google Developer Expert (GDE) in Angular.
This is of course not a final destination. It’s rather the start of a new step on the road, which was never easy but worth it!
It’s worth it because even if your original goal will not come true, you’ll come up with new ones - thanks to what you learned.
It’s worth it, because, during such a journey, you’ll witness the birth of a better stronger version of yourself, after surviving the moments you felt devastated, and the moments you were full of doubt about yourself and whether you would make it. Worst, the moments you were not sure if you’ve even chosen the right path or if you’re just wasting your time and energy.
Yet, somehow you continue. You continue despite failures and rejections that feel like slaps on the face. You continue despite your skeptical inner voice mocking your efforts and intentions and telling you you’re over-optimist and maybe naive by doing what you’re doing.
But what if the right combination of “nativity and creativity”, in addition to faith, is all that we need to make a difference?
Many thanks to Enis Ayari, founder & CEO of bumpli®, from whom I learned this tip the first time.
Thanks to all the people I get to know and work with more closely in this journey, and those who joined my network and the community I’m building.
Thanks to everyone who inspired me to continue and I hope that my journey and my content would also inspire others as well.
“If you have a good idea and a vision, believe in yourself. I had to fight for my idea and face a lot of critics — even from the closest circle. Today, they all believe in it. With good ideas and a healthy amount of naivety, we all can do it. It’s also important to get up again if you fall. Mistakes are the best teachers for how to perform better at the next opportunity.” - Enis Ayari
“It’s more about the journey than the destination.“
P.S: If you’re wondering what a GDE is, just like I did in the past, here is the answer:
“A Google Developers Expert (GDE) is a person recognized by Google as having exemplary expertise in web technologies or Google Developers products. GDEs are awarded by membership in the Google Developers Experts program, established and administered by Google. A Google Developers Expert cannot be a Google employee whilst a member of the program. GDEs are not permitted to "make any statements on behalf of Google or any Google company" and be clear that any opinions are not those of Google.“ - wikipedia
Till next time, have a nice day!
