On Users Research, Angular 13, and Snappy & Efficient Writing
Hi everyone!
We are welcoming new subscribers, so thank you for joining us :)
In the last two weeks, I’ve managed to produce a new video for my YouTube channel and write three articles, one of them went viral and another one was featured by Jan Ahrend, Senior User Experience Researcher at Google, in his User Weekly newsletter:
Today we’ll talk about:
How to collect, analyze, and visualize users reviews
Angular 13 new release
Transforming Your Boring Technical Sentences Into Engaging Ones
Stepping Up Your Writing Game Faster
Let’s start right 🚀
A Scrape and Analysis of Users Reviews Case Study: Octoparse & Container Go
In a previous post, I’ve tackled 5 mental models to build better products as software developers. One of these models was Heuristic Evaluation.
Heuristic evaluation is a popular usability testing method that measures how easy or difficult a system is to use. It lets you learn how your users interact with your software so that you can improve it.
In this post, I’ll show how to apply this approach to a real example, which is Container Go: a B2B portal for waste disposal companies in Germany. It allows end-users to order containers for waste disposal and offers companies the possibility of tracking orders directly in their inventory control systems.
For this case study, I’ll collect the customers’ reviews that are available online, then implement an Angular app to analyze and visualize the data.
To extract the reviews automatically, I’ll leverage web scraping, which is a well-known practice among data scientists, machine learning enthusiasts, and marketers. But don’t worry, you don’t have to be a web scraping expert in order to collect the data you need. You can use a tool like Octoparse which is user-friendly even for non-coders, has a powerful auto-detection feature, and offers a free trial.
What’s New in Angular 13
100% Ivy, better component API, no support for IE11, and more
The new release of Google’s popular TypeScript-based web framework is available since November 3, 2020.
This post will bring you closer to the most important new features and breaking changes in Angular 13 and help you decide whether an update for your project is worthwhile.
How To Transform Your Boring Technical Sentences Into Engaging Ones
5 tips for snappy and efficient technical writing
How could we write about technical topics in a human-oriented way?
A short answer would be: to wire your data with emotions and weave narratives that transform dry, hard-to-digest content into an easy and enjoyable one to read.
Sometimes, you have to choose your words carefully or split your sentences to add drama. You may need to change the structure of your phrases to sound more convincing, sarcastic, or add enthusiasm.
In this post, I tackle 5 simple techniques to achieve this goal and see a lot of examples of how to engage your audience and increase their attention.
4 Tips to Step Up Your Writing Game Faster
