What Are You Willing to Do to Make this Year Your Best Yet?
Unleashing your potential and achieving success in the digital age
Hey everyone 👋,
I hope you're all starting 2023 off motivated to make it your best yet!
As we kick off the new year, it's natural to reflect on the past and think about what we want to achieve in the coming months. It can be easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of daily life and lose sight of our long-term goals, but it's important to take time to think about what truly matters to us and how we can make the most of our time.
That's why I'm excited to announce that this year, I'm planning to have a more audio and visual presence as a content creator. I'm also looking forward to giving a few talks at tech conferences as a software engineer. I'm eager to connect with more of you and share my knowledge and experiences in these areas.
But enough about me - let's talk about you. As we begin this new year, I want to ask: How will you make it count?
Will you focus on advancing your career by learning new skills and taking on new challenges?
Will you work on personal projects that have been on the back burner for too long?
Will you prioritize self-care and focus on your physical and mental well-being?
Or are you thinking about how the release of tools like ChatGPT might impact your professional life and how you can leverage it?
Whatever your aspirations may be, it's important to remember that the journey is just as important as the destination. Every day is an opportunity to make a positive impact and move closer to your goals. So don't let fear or uncertainty hold you back - embrace the potential that this new year brings and make it count.
I'm eager to see what the future has in store for all of us, and I hope that by setting intentions and taking action toward our goals, we can all make this year our best yet.

Audience Question: Working in Germany
Oli asks:
I'm currently considering relocating to Germany in the near future, and I'm looking for opportunities in the field of data science to do so. I noticed that you have been living and working in Germany for a while, and I'm curious to hear your thoughts on what it's like to live and work there as a software engineer.
Do you have any advice or insights you could share?
Are there specific companies or industries you would recommend for data analysis/science roles in Germany?
Any information or advice you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
It's great to hear that you're considering moving to Germany and looking for opportunities in data science. I've been living and working here for a while, and I can definitely vouch for the fact that it's a great place to learn and grow as a software engineer.
One thing to keep in mind is that the job market has changed a bit since the pandemic hit. There's been an increased focus on cloud and serverless technologies, so it might be helpful to brush up on those skills if you haven't already. I've also been working almost entirely remotely for the past few years, with a focus on web development.
As for job searching, my advice would be to apply for as many opportunities as you can find. It's always a good idea to get your foot in the door somewhere and then you can consider switching to a different company or role when something better comes along. Just keep an open mind and be willing to learn and adapt to new environments.
Another tip would be to try to learn at least some basic German before you move to the country. It's not necessarily a requirement, but having some language skills will definitely make your daily life easier and help you communicate more effectively with colleagues and clients.
I hope this information is helpful to you, and I wish you the best of luck in your job search!
